Four-piece rock and roll group Supermodels play a potent clash of classic Americana and punk-friendly clatter that has carved out a distinct niche in the Melbourne music scene throughout 2021. Oscar Sergeant and Callum Elvins’ lyrical songwriting is backed by Callum’s country inflected guitar and the hulking rhythm section of Rehn Smith (drums) and Fraser Elvins (bass and piano), giving them their signature E-Street-Band-gone-rouge sound.
The band will be launching their debut EP “French Kiss” at Cherry Bar on August 13 at 1am. The EP plays a little like a mission statement for the band, traversing the cowpunk stomp of “On Chelsea Street” and “Hobart (Too Far)”, the 60s pop flavours of “Astral Surfer”, the melodic indie rock of lead single “Round the Bend” and the folky sing-along of “Dancing Out the Door”.
